Birthday Parties for Hosts

A host's birthday is one of the most important events at any club. Customers typically celebrate by ordering champagne towers, premium bottles, and birthday cakes. The host will sit with you, take photos, and often make a small speech of gratitude. Costs vary dramatically:

• Basic celebration: A cake and a bottle of champagne — ¥30,000–¥50,000
• Champagne tower (3 tiers): ¥80,000–¥150,000
• Grand tower (5+ tiers): ¥200,000–¥500,000
• VIP celebration with multiple bottles: ¥500,000+

The host's club may also run in-house birthday events where multiple customers contribute. You are never obligated to throw a grand party — even a modest toast is appreciated.

Anniversary Celebrations

Regular customers often celebrate anniversaries of their first visit or the first time they met a specific host. These are more intimate than birthday events but can still involve champagne and gifts. Many clubs offer anniversary photo sets or small commemorative items for customers who reach milestones (3 months, 6 months, 1 year). Expect to spend ¥20,000–¥80,000 depending on the scale.

Host Promotion Events

When a host rises in rank or moves to a higher-tier club, they hold promotion events (昇格イベント). These are essentially open parties where regular customers come to support them. The promoted host typically needs to meet a sales target (ノルマ), and regular customers are encouraged to order bottles. You can also attend just to show support with a simple drink order — there is no minimum requirement for attendees.

How to Participate vs. Decline Gracefully

If a host invites you to an event, you can participate at whatever level you are comfortable with. To decline without causing offense, simply say you have prior plans or that you cannot make it that day. A thoughtful message or small gift sent beforehand is well received. Never feel pressured into spending more than you can afford — a good host will appreciate any gesture.
